Our Story
Since 2002, The Crossings Group Inc. has been working with mortgage banking talent, creating opportunities for proven mortgage banking leaders to cross paths with a select list of depositories and mortgage companies. We started as a firm focused on helping home builders with retail mortgage divisions but quickly grew to include other non-depository mortgage companies. Today we serve an equal balance of bank and non-depository mortgage bankers, while finding solutions to their mortgage banking recruiting needs. Our concentration is a mix of executive leadership, production, operations and merger and acquisition work.

Joe Lickteig
Joe, founder and owner of The Crossings Group, has spent his entire career in human resources and recruiting. Having worked as a college recruiter, training facilitator, temp-to-perm desk recruiter and manager of a large recruiting office, Joe brings a wealth of experience from a number of sectors within the recruiting industry. Joe’s teams have led the nation in permanent placement sales and have received national honors in recognition of their production.
Joe grew up in Waukee, IA, and graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA and then pursued a master's degree at The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in Curriculum Design. He is a family guy spending most of his time with his wife, Teri, their two daughters, Alice and Josie, as well as their golden retriever, Ruby. Joe is also active in the Knights of Columbus and appreciates the challenge of writing a good song.
Jim Valline
Since 1995, Jim has been a strategic planner sourcing the top talent in the mortgage banking marketplace using direct and passive sourcing methodologies. He is active in the four primary mortgage channels: Retail, Wholesale, Correspondent and Consumer Direct. His searches encompass C-Level Executives, Regional and Area Managers, Branch Managers, Loan Officers and Operations. “My passion for recruiting is a straight-forward, honest approach whether I’m working with the candidate to enhance their career or consulting with the client to identify the right person to bring value to their organization.”

Alice Apostolopoulos
A 2020 graduate of the University of Iowa, Alice began her career as a Human Resources Generalist and has since built five years of experience in the HR field. Known for her ability to listen, connect, and understand the needs of others, she is passionate about helping people grow in their careers. She leverages her broad human resources background to support strategic talent searches throughout the mortgage industry.
Alice is proud to be part of the Crossings Group and values the opportunity to work alongside her father Joe. She is married and spends evenings helping at her husband’s Greek family restaurant. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, making memories with family & friends, whether through work, adventure, or simple game nights at home.
